• BANKING:  The finance ministry has asked public sector banks to provide details of the branches that were unprofitable in the past two financial years.
• METALS: Vedanta Resources' arm Vedanta Aluminium has sought the Odisha government's intervention for securing long-term coal linkages for its captive power plant in Jharsuguda.
• MINING: The Goa State Pollution Control Board has issued show-cause notices to 40 mining firms for allegedly extracting iron ore beyond permissible limits.
• TELECOM: The Supreme Court has rejected review petitions filed by seven companies that were affected by the court's verdict to cancel 122 telecom licences granted in 2008.
• The Supreme Court has adjourned until Apr 11 hearing on two petitions seeking probe into the role of Home Minister P. Chidambaram

• AUTO ANCILLARY: The government has extended the anti-dumping duty levied on import of non-radial tyres from China and Thailand for another six months. The levy of the duty will remain in force up to Oct 7, the revenue department has said.
• AVIATION: Air India has replaced a number of business-class seats in domestic routes with economy class,
and has also configured a substantial number of its short-haul aircraft to all-economy seats.

• HINDUSTAN COPPER: Plans to raise $250 mln this quarter through overseas borrowings to part fund its expansion plans.
• HINDUSTAN UNILEVER: Has signed an agreement to lease its Worli property in Mumbai to Piramal Realty for 4.52 bln rupees.
• INVENTURE GROWTH & SECURITIES: The company's board has approved a 3-for-1 bonus share issue.
• MAHINDRA & MAHINDRA: May consider setting up a plant outside Maharashtra in the backdrop of the tax amendments made by the state.

• OIL AND NATURAL GAS CORP: Overseas investment arm ONGC Videsh has discontinued crude oil production in south Sudan following geo-political tensions in the region.
